A busy weekend......

Time flies when you're busy.......and having fun......
I find it each week goes so quickly these days now Chris comes home weekends,  Hess been poorly.....nasty chesty cough and it made his asthma really play up!!!
So much so.....that he actually was bedded down (army speak for sick leave) so he came home to rest.
I was glad to have a chance to fuss over him for more than two days!!!

Then it was time to head back to suffolk.....sadly Chris's uncle had passed away so we were attending his burial on the Thursday,  that same day we also went to visit his daughter in hospital,  same cough cold thing flared up her asthma and she ended up staying over night to see how she got on with her breathing.
It's been all go!!!!!

I honestly don't know how we fit it all in sometimes!!!
On arriving back the following Friday,  we were met with heavy rain and a leak in the bay window roof!!!
I could have cried.....it's only just been newly felted.....grrrrrr!!!!!
Not what you need when you've just walked in.....with two boys and a set of grandparents!!!
Stiill,  it didn't last too long and the men have been out to sort it......sooooo hopefully it'll be fine......fingers crossed.....touch wood!!!!

Ido love it when Chris is home......I love to see him relaxed and enjoying our lovely house......the weekends are so short and filled with jobs.....I long for the days when when he's home permanently.....it's fair way off and I'm finding levels of patience I never had before.....

One of the things we did get sorted was buying this bit of kit......a Karcher sucky window cleaning thingy.......for all of you out there in blog land with single glazed sashes.....this could be your new best friend.......no more soggy towels and drips as you wipe away condensation......this sucks it all away.......pretty impressive let me tell you!!!!!!!

....and so the weekend came to a close......Sunday roast.....quick jolly jaunt to a craft day at Emma Bridegwater.......home.......packing......and into the car for Chris and the boys......his parents stayed an extra night with me....it was good to have the company......it's tough being here on my own.....and being away from my friends and family makes me feel lonely sometimes.....but I'm starting to get sorted with stuff......I've joined an education agency and I'm still volunteering at Ford Green Hall.....but I miss my little house and familiar stuff......I still feel like I'm a guest on holiday.....I'm thinking it's not quite clicked that I live here now.....that I need to put down roots....lol....I'm pouring my heart out here.....but I think it's good to get it off my chest.....it's not that I'm not happy.....I am...but I'm finding the adjustment a little more tricky than I thought....but then moving house/area/job would do that and I've had a lot of changes in my life.....so I'm thinking I'm being g a bit tough on myself......ok.....time to get stuff done and off to the Hall,  doing something with pomanders today......should be fun!!!

More postal goodness!!!

Well it's been yet another wonderful weekend!!!
Totally back breaking mostly......we've gutted the garden.....it soooo needed doing......with Winnter slowly approaching......I say this.....because it still feels weirdly warm.....which is just soooo wrong at this time of year!!!!  I want to be huddled in a coat and feel chilly!!!!  How oddly British of me!!!!

So......anyways....the postie came and brought me this!!!!!
Plus a postcard from my lovely man......who sent it even though he was due home.....he's so romantic......I just adore him.....
Exciting......it's my gift from Laura Ashley for doing my bit in the T V documentary,  enclosed a wonderful silk scarf,  a reproduction of the first ones Laura made back in the day......it's stunning!!!!
I love it!!!!
And......£100 squid to spend on stuff!!!!

So Chris and I popped to our local store and bought these much lusted over curtains.....awning stripe in raspberry.....ohhhhh I just love them.....they make the bay window look even grander now!!!
I'm soooooo happy!!!
I keep doing that thing....where you go into the room and sigh with joy!!
I've done it a few times.....and it's not getting old yet!!!

What a saddo I am.....teehee!!!

Be back soon.....love Mel Mel....xxx

The surprise gift......

Hello my dears!!

While I was away last week......I missed a parcel......I couldn't for the life of me remember what I'd ordered......and I totally thought I was losing my marbles!!!
Anyway.....the postie turned up.......and low and behold......I unwrapped this beautiful house warming gift from my long standing friend Valerie......it's simply perfect......it made me feel very emotional.....and I might have cried a bit......
This house move has been given me a mixed bag of emotions.......to deal with.....but the best one has been extreme happiness......that at last I'm truly loved for the person I am....and that's a good thing!!!!

I love my new kitchen.......❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

???

Honestly......what's not to love!!!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Pottering in the Potteries.......an at home day.....

Good day to you all!!

I'm enjoying an at home day.......due to the fact it's chucking it down presently......I did venture out earlier to post some parcels.  It was good to get some fresh air......but it's very nice to be snugged up at home with all my pretties.......and I would say my cat,  but I've no idea where she's hiding!!!
I've lost her a few times in this house......it's much bigger than my old one......and she has options!!!!

Soooo.....I've been taking pretty pictures.....but that's what you guys love......and there's nothing wrong with that.......I enjoy the pictures too.....I love seeing what you've all been doing in your houses.....!!!
Today the enormous eucalyptus tree should have been chopped down....it's far too big for the garden and it's dangerously heavy on one side....we fear for our house and the property's next to us!!!
So sadly......it's coming down.......hopefully tomorrow......weather permitting......
We've great plans for the garden......that involve Belfast sinks and my Victorian chimney pot planter......can't wait to get cracking!!!!

Till next time love melxx

Busy again......never a moment!!!!

Well I've been busy again......went to Suffolk last week......to attend the ladies night in the mess at Chris's barracks.
It's a lovely evening,  I went to one last year......full length gowns and the chaps all dressed up in their mess dress and medals......it's a really smart occasion.  This year I wore a wonderful midnight blue lace dress from Phase Eight.....with matching blue satin bow shoes......cute eh?
I love getting dressed up......it's very lovely to be all Hollywood style glamour for the night.......but then the next day it's a huge night after the ball Cinderella feeling......but at least I have both my shoes and I've already found my Prince Charming!!!!!

Sooooo......while I was a away I found a sweet mirror for my 40s dressing table......and being me.....I had to paint it.....and guess what?? Its blue......no real surprise there......I love a certain shade of blue......and it features heavily in this house......pretty much in the same way that it did at the old house!!!

I'm back in High View this week.......pottering in the Potteries......I dare say I'll be bimbling about on blogger,  catching up with you guys and updating here n there.....see you soon!!!

Stars and stuff.....

Hi there readers!!!
So we've been busy at High View......mainly sorting out the children's rooms........Chris found two wonderful old school desks on preloved,  one was painted (above) which was perfect for Megan's room.
The other was in in its natural wood finish and resides in the boys den.....it's not in any of the pictures,  mainly because I forgot to take one!!!
We've also reused what we had.....the rug below and my old chest of drawers.....new drawer pulls gave it a whole new look,  much better suited to a lads room......they were old ceramic floral ones before.......

Cute wooden star picked up in good old Primark for £1.50,  our room......I'm lovely the shaker style at the moment......😊
Plus some starry pillowcases and throws.....in the lads den......completes their room for now.......as our money is needed elsewhere.......but more on that another time......

It's really starting to look cosy and homely now.......looking forward to seeing the lads reaction......hope they like it!!!
More soon......love melxx
