I'm in Period Living mag this month!

Oh my gosh!!!!
We are featured in this months issue of Period Living magazine......I feel so honoured as it's the 25th anniversary issue.....I love how the house looks,  they are so clever at styling it so that the homes look just splendid,  it still looks like home.....but way better!
Sadly last Friday,  my beloved Pickle......who's sitting so beautifully on the settle,  passed away, she had aggressive tumours growing in her tummy and it made her very ill,  so it was a heartbreaking decision not to put her through surgery,  but to let her go as peacefully as possible,  we said our last goodbyes and we were with her at the end.....I spent two days crying my heart out.....we buried her at home here in High lovely gentle girl,  forever captured in a glossy's a fitting tribute to our much loved pet.
Hope you enjoy looking at our home....see you Mel....xx

Good use for an old bag......

.....not me!
Soooo.....I had this Emma Bridgewater bag lying about.....and I had another one of my lightbulb with my trusty staple gun and less than 2 minutes of time,  I lined the back of our dresser.....looks of kind cool I think!
Blue Peter eat your heart out!

Till next time!

Busy busy busy!!!!

Hi guys!
I'm glad to see I've still got the energy to smile!
It's been all go here!
My stepdaughter Megan passed her GCSEs with flying colours!
I've had my family at home for two weeks,  Chris my other half for a week by ourselves.....we've done loads of jobs in the house and even found time to squeeze in a bit of relaxing!
Soon it was time to pick the children up,  so we decided it would be a good time to fit in a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum,  Chris sadly lost a number of good friends in helicopter crashes in Bosnia and Afghanistan the latter being quite recently,  so it was a tearful visit to pay our respects.
It's tranquil setting that highlights the immense loss of life in our recent conflicts.......I especially found the "Shot At Dawn" memorial hugely upsetting....130 souls shot for what was then seen as cowardice....nowadays their PTSD or shell shock would have received the attention it sad it's hard to put it into words that do it justice.
After a soothing tea of tea.......because tea cures all in this house.....we travelled on to pick up the children,  who were very excited to see us and we to see them.....they'd just enjoyed a boating trip up the Norfolk broads with their mum and her partner and the family dog.....we had opted for a holiday at home this year as Staffordshire has much to offer and we needed to do more exploring......however you can read more on those trips below! they've all gone back.....and suddenly it's Friday again and Chris is due home in hours few!!!
Gosh the week went quickly!!
I've been doing odd jobs around the house...I've  been to slimming world.....I've lost 7lbs in 5 weeks.....not bad!
More on that another time!

I've had my old nanny children and their mum come to visit......Helen is a great friend of mine.....we've known each other for 18 years....I've looked after all the children in some capacity during that time....the youngest missy below.....making herself at home with her knitting!
They brought me a lovely Emma Bridgewater love all over cushion and an EB biscuit tin!
Lucky me!!!

Well,  enough of my get out of bed and get on with the day......need to see if Staffordshire life magazine us in the shops yet....our house is featured in it......can't wait to see it....excited!!!!

Till next time!!!!

Inspiration strikes!

I had a bit of a lightbulb moment on my return from the Black Country museum yesterday.......for a while now......sort of 12 years to be kind of precise .......I've been the proud owner of a Victorian drainer!
It's previously been on duty holding up a bush in the garden at my old house.......a very sad life for it!
Well,  today we decided it needed to come inside.....otherwise it will remain up against a wall as a play area for slugs and snails for the foreseeable!
So here it is......and very happy we are too with our our lovely home!!!!

Summer holidays part 3........and my fave day sooooo far!!!! We went the the Black Country Living Museum.......I'm going to let the pictures tell the story of our visit!

Summer holidays part 2!

Hi's proving to be a busy fun week here in the Potteries!
Our second trip of the week was to the amazing Crich tramway village......a cute Victorian style street with trams from different periods in history......that take you on jolly jaunt up the street,  to the old mine......once you jump off at that stop.....there's a lovely country walk to lanes full of bees and butterflies eventually lead you to a quiet hill top which is home to a war also has the most gorgeous view.....I've not included that you might want to go one day yourselves.....xx

Summer holiday fun.....part 1

Hi readers,  we started our summer holidays with a visit to the Emma Bridgewater factory.......for a spot of painting in the pottery studio and a tour of the factory floor.
We are huge fans of EB in this it was a fun and informative tour of the behind the scenes so to speak!

My stepdaughter painted a truly beautiful design on a tiny teacup and saucer......really looking forward to see how it looks after firing....
If you've never been its well worth a visit......a top attraction here in the of many.....more posts coming best to make a brew methinks!
